The Thrift Shop.

If you've had the privilege to attend a Thrift Shop with me then you'd know my enjoyment of sifting through tossed articles.

My best representation of this, if you haven't experienced it, is Macklemore & Ryan Lewis's single: Thrift Shop.

Upon a recent visit to the local Value Village (puts Goodwill under the table) yielded one of my most surprising finds to date.

A good leather shoe does nothing but make a man look refined, sleek and manly (of course). I paid $5 for what seemed like a decently constructed, dapper, shoe.

What I didn't know is I picked up a little bit of 70's American Manliness. These are made by The Hanover Shoe co., a now deceased company from Hanover Pennsylvania.

They only appear to be mildly worn, however who knows as they also appear to be as solid as a tank.

Unfortunately they're a bit small on me. I may be able to stretch them a bit to fit my snow shovel feet. However, I'm not sure if they'll yield so easily.

They may end up on Ebay or Craigslist as I see them listed commonly for well over $100. Could be a good perk for other projects and finds in the future.

Who wouldn't want them?? They were made in the 70's, in America from animal hide!
